Laminated Glass

Security is always an important consideration, but many solutions can make you feel locked up in your own home.
Walshs Laminated Guardian Glass is comprised of two panes of glass bonded together with a clear vinyl interlayer, making it very difficult to break.

Laminated glass consists of two or more sheets of glass and an interlayer usually (PVB) poly vinyl butryal which is permanently bonded together under heat and pressure to form a single piece.

The finished glass product, which is a Grade 'A' safety glazing material, is suitable for a wide range of applications. Generally, the interlayer has a thickness of 0.38mm, except for applications such as automotive windscreens, which use a 0.76mm thick interlayer. This glass then complies with Australian Standards AS/NZS 2208, AS/NZS 2080 and AS1288.

Laminated safety glass is a durable, versatile product that offers a broad range of benefits including:

  • Safety
  • Security
  • Heat and glare control
  • UV elimination
  • Sound reduction

The major advantage of laminated glass is that if the glass is impacted with sufficient force to cause breakage, the fragments of the broken glass typically remain intact reducing the likelihood of injury.

Laminated safety glass is available in a wide range of tones and thermal performance to suit almost any glazing application.
